Take advantage of another freedom--the right to leave

Editor:

In Broken Arrow, Okla., school officials removed "God Bless America" signs from school. Channel 12 news in Long Island, N.Y., removed flags from newsrooms and red, white and blue ribbons from lapels of reporters. Berkeley, Calif., bans U.S. flags on fire trucks not to offend anyone in the community.

I am disturbed by these actions as if we are offending some individual of their culture. As Americans, we have our culture, society, language and lifestyle which we call "The American Way," developed over centuries by millions of men and women who sought freedom.

Our forefathers fought, bled and died in places such as Bunker Hill, San Juan, Iwo Jima, Normandy, Korea and Vietnam. "In God We Trust" is our national motto engraved in stone in the House of Representatives, and is printed on our currency. We adopted this motto because Christian men and women on Christian principles founded this nation.

God is our pledge, our national anthem and in nearly every patriotic song. We honor his birth, death and resurrection. If God offends you, consider moving to another part of the world, as your new home, such as moving to another planet.

We celebrated Independence Day, Memorial Day, Veterans Day and Flag Day. We are Americans. This is our country, our land and our lifestyle. After you are done complaining and griping about our flag, pledge and national motto or our way of life, take advantage of another great American freedom -- "the right to leave."
