Second Battalion, 4th Marines Association, Inc. is a 501(c)(19) organization.

“Some people live their entire lifetime and wonder if they ever made a difference to the world.... Marines don’t have that problem”.
President Ronald Reagan - September 23, 1983
Throughout the years of the Battalion some said we were Bastards...
some said we were Magnificent...
and it was LtCol. Joseph R. "Bull" Fisher that said we are
"The Magnificent Bastards"
To put to rest all of the controversy as to when LtCol. Bull Fisher first used this moniker for "his troops", it was first said while the Battalion was still in Kaneohe Bay Hawaii. He was the incoming Battalion Commander and it was at the change of command ceremony between himself & LtCol. Donald Doxey on 4 June 1964 when he was addressing his troops as their new Battalion Commander. Contrary to a popular & persistent rumor, it was not while the Battalion was involved in Operation Starlite in August of 1965 in S. Vietnam (although he did use the moniker in a conversation with a news reporter during an after Starlite briefing). If it was the first time, then how does one explain that the descriptive phrase was already added to the 2/4 insignia when LtCol. Fisher handed out the new patches and plaques in January of 1965 to the troops of 2/4 while still in Hawaii?
Also, it was Battalion Commander, LtCol. Gene Bench that issued Battalion Order 5600.1B on 24 September 1966 designating that the modified insignia (as used today) be the insignia for the Battalion. The order went on to explain that the insignia was designed by LtCol. Donald Doxey and his wife during his command and was modified again with the addition of "The Magnificent Bastards" in 1964. A copy of BnOrder 5600.1B is available here.

Muster in Non-Membership contact information form |
A very important part of the job undertaken as both the Webmaster and Roster Manager for the Association is to keep accurate records of our Members and our Associate Members...this includes the means we have of contacting them.
The one thing that is presenting a major problem is that E-Mail addresses are changed about as often as a new or tricky name pops into our heads or every time your Internet Service Providers is merged or purchased. This in itself is fine but please, if and when you do change your e-mail address, your phone number or your residential address, please send an update. Click here to go to a simple update page that has been created.
NOTE...
some internet email providers have set up filters on their servers that pick out certain emails or words within emails, attach an arbitrary 'label' of SPAM and refuse to deliver them to your email box. Those that get bounced back to our server as undeliverable for this reason will also be included in the "Bad email section" below with a notation as such and a note as to what you can do about it.
