2010 REUNION - PLEASANTON, CA
1-5 SEPTEMBER 2010

Download 2010 Reunion Registration Form

The 2010 reunion will be held in Pleasanton, California, which is located just east of the San Francisco Bay Area in the Livermore Valley. Pleasanton is easily reached via several interstate highways, depending upon which direction you travel, and close to three large airports.

The reason for having the reunion in this location is two-fold. First and foremost, as always, we are afforded the opportunity to reacquaint ourselves with old friends and make new ones in a special "band of brothers" event. Secondly, this year will offer a new and unique venue on Saturday and Sunday to experience a Scottish games in conjunction with the reunion events.

Host Brooks Wilson is a member of the Caledonian Club of San Francisco as well as the 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines Association. The Caledonian Club has hosted an annual Scottish gathering and games since 1866 in the Bay Area and it has become one of the largest Scottish games in the United States, drawing 40-45,000 on Labor Day weekend each year. Brooks thought it would be a lot of fun to combine the two events into one "lallapalooza!" Members will get to experience the fun of attending a Scottish heritage event including such things as ethnic foods, lots of folks in period regalia, contests for pipers, drummers, pipe bands, drum majors and athletes, sheep dog exhibitions, Scottish cattle, clan tents where one might begin the search for his or her roots, and two grandstand shows per day to cap the excitement and wonder of it all. Members might even find out what’s under a kilt!

RESERVATIONS

The 2010 reunion will be held at the Four Points Sheraton - Pleasanton, California. A block of 50 rooms has been contracted and reservations are required. Please call the following number: (888) 627-8072 or go to the link below to make your reservations:

2nd Bn, 4th Mar Association Reservations
(Click “Book Now” link on right side).

It is important that you contact the hotel no later than Wednesday, August 18, 2010, which is fourteen days prior to the reunion and identify yourselves as part of the 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines Association. You will need to provide them with your name, requested bed type (i.e. king or double queen), check-in and check-out dates, and any other special requirements you might have. Please note that the hotel confirms reservations only via internet, but not in writing if made over the phone (they will give you a confirmation number on the phone), and room types cannot be guaranteed.

After Wednesday, August 18, 2010 all room nights which have not been reserved will be returned to the hotel's general inventory. Reservation requests after this date will be accepted on a space available basis, at the rate available at that time, but it is almost a certainty that there will be no rooms available since the Scottish Games are a big draw.

CHECK-IN / CHECK-OUT

Guest accommodations will be available at 3:00 pm on arrival day and reserved until 12:00 pm on departure day. During peak periods of high occupancy, rooms may not be available within these parameters. Rooms will be made available for check-in as soon as possible. Any attendee wishing special consideration for late checkout should inquire at the front desk on the day of departure. If late checkout is available, a late charge equal to 50% of the room rate plus tax will be applied to each room vacated after 3:00 pm.

GUEST ROOM CHARGES

When reservations are made, the hotel will require a credit card guarantee or a deposit equal to the room rate and tax for the first night for each reservation. An individual’s deposit is refundable to that individual if the hotel receives notice of an individual’s cancellation at least 72 hours prior to scheduled arrival, though this shall have no bearing upon the 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines Association’s total liability pursuant to either the attrition or cancellation clauses herein. Upon check-in, each guest will be required to present a valid credit card, on which an amount of sufficient pre-authorization can be obtained to cover the room and tax charges for the length of the guest’s stay, plus the anticipated use of the hotel’s ancillary services.

TRANSPORTATION

For those attendees flying into the Bay Area, there are three airports: San Francisco International, Oakland International and San Jose International. The latter two are the closest. Transportation is readily available, but perhaps the easiest way to travel between the hotel and airport is by renting a car, using the SuperShuttle [please see www.supershuttle.com or call (800) BLUEVAN (258-3826) or taking BART (good only at SFO and OAK airports)].

Super Shuttle - please follow the instructions below for the respective airports:

Other transportation:

PLEASE NOTE: There will be no bus transportation scheduled or otherwise provided for reunion events as in the past. This is due to a number of factors and your leadership decided to let each attendee be responsible for his/her own transportation. We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause, but it was determined to be the most fiscally responsible course of action.
