As webmaster and "Locator" for the 2/4 Association I have had so many guys ask me how to get copies of rosters I figured I'd put this into the website.

Prior to you going off and sending a whimsical request to the department that handles this information at HQMC, I am told that there are some rules that must be followed :

1>    Your name must appear on the roster you are requesting

2>    You must be specific as to what you are requesting.  Follow example of a request as shown below. A post card will suffice as long as you follow a format somewhat like this.  

   Sir, I am requesting a copy of the official roster for H Company, 2nd Bn, 4th Marines,

            3rd Marine Division, Chu Lai S Vietnam for the months of September 1965 and December       

       1965.  Please forward these to your name, your address, your daytime telephone number.

3>    I believe you can request 2 or 3 different rosters 2 or 3 times a year.  A smart thing to do is to check with friends first to see if they may have already requested a certain company/months roster.  This way you can request a different months roster and over a period of time we may end up with quite a collection for each company.  If so, share what you have or send me a copy of it and I will include it on a page showing what rosters are already available.       

I must tell you that they do send the best copies of a roster that they have.  Some are not legible but they send what is available to them.  You have to remember that these are stored on old microfiche films.
