OPERATION STARLITE and the Beginning of the Blood Debt in Vietnam
The much anticipated, long awaited book about Operation Starlite is now available. This is the work of a friend of the Second Battalion, 4th Marines Association, LtCol. Otto J. Lehrack. It is the culmination of many years of work researching, interviewing participants from both sides of the battle, walking the battlefield, writing and re-writing this book.
Otto Lehrack himself is a 24-year career Marine that started as a Private and earned a set of bars, a 2-tour veteran of Vietnam. His 67/68 tour he was the grunt company commander of India 3/3 and during his 70/71 tour he served as the Op O of a signal intelligence battalion. He is a military historian and author of the 1992 book "No Shining Armor: The Marines at War in Vietnam" (His story, his Marines).
